Bequests and Memorial Contributions

​

Bequests and memorial contributions are welcome to support the Historical Society’s mission. These bequests and memorial contributions can include stocks, annuities, properties, and other financial instruments. Those making a legacy contribution will have their name added to our Memorial Book in hand-scripted calligraphy.  Contact The Nashua Historical Society office for further information.

How to Donate Your Materials to The Nashua Historical Society’s Collection

 

The Nashua Historical Society welcomes donations of Nashua-related materials to our collection. The Historical Society collects both personal papers created by individuals and families, and records created by organizations and businesses. Examples of Nashua-related materials that we collect include letters, diaries, account books, deeds, meeting minutes, scrapbooks, photographs, drawings, maps, pamphlets, invitations, articles of incorporation, professional files, financial and membership records, legal documents, textiles, videos, furniture made in Nashua, other items manufactured in Nashua, and others.

 

For photographs, please identify the people in the photographs, if possible, and include any stories that go with the photographs. For all donated materials, add the provenance of the item, if known.

All donors must complete a Donor Documentation Worksheet and include the worksheet with your donation.

 

Transferring Materials to The Nashua Historical Society

 

Please contact us before shipping any material, so that we can discuss the donation process with you and help you identify which material(s) to donate. Frequently sending us a picture of the item(s) ahead of time is very helpful. You can then ship the material(s) to us or make an appointment to deliver them in person. In exceptional cases, The Nashua Historical Society staff members may be able to pick up the material(s).

 

The donation is reviewed and approved by the Collection Committee and The Nashua Historical Society’s Curator. To transfer ownership of the materials to The Nashua Historical Society, we will ask you to sign a Certificate of Gift, which includes a brief description of the material(s) donated. The donated material(s) become officially owned by The Nashua Historical Society once the Certificate of Gift is signed by the donor and returned to The Nashua Historical Society.
