8. Weeping Willow, Rose, Wheat

Weeping Willow
Weeping willow represents grief and sadness as a mourning symbol. It is also used as a symbol of rebirth because willows can regenerate easily.  Limbs can grow into new trees even if left on the ground. Willows symbolize immortality, life after death and the soul’s resurrection.

Rose
Roses symbolize love, beauty, and hope.  Roses are commonly found on the graves of women during Victorian times.  The stage of bloom can also symbolize the age of the deceased:
A rose bud: a child under age 12
A partially opened rose: a teen or young adult
A rose in full bloom: a person who died in their prime
Broken stems symbolize a life cut short.
Two roses together represent a strong bond, such as marriage.
A rose with three leaves symbolizes the Holy Trinity.

Wheat
Wheat symbolizes a long, fruitful life, immortality and resurrection.  It can also represent the Body of Christ as in the eucharist.
