The Nashua
Historical Society marks the official opening of the NEW
Speare Museum exhibit, “Hats
Off Nashua!”
Highlighted in the exhibit are the creations
of Nashua’s own milliners, the Bouthillier sisters,
Gabrielle and Pricilla, owners of Gaby’s Exclusive
Shoppe formerly on Pearl Street. The Opening’s guest
speaker, Betty Towle, is milliner and personal
friend of
the Bouthillier sisters. Mrs. Towle has titled this evening’s
presentation “When Ladies Wore Hats”.
It will
include stories of Nashua’s millinery past as well
as a demonstration.

Victorian Tea Time
Saturday, April 5, 2008 - 1:30p.m. - 4:00p.m.
An afternoon at the Nashua Historical
Society, for girls ages 8 – 11 and their chosen adult
to experience the
graciousness of history. We will be on
hand to pour, explain the nuances of a Victorian tea and
guide
you through the Nashua Historical Society’s Museums.
Reservations and payment are required by March 15.
Cost is
$10/couple with your reservation. Seating is limited.
King’s
Daughters and the Daughters of the American Revolution

Our April meeting will highlight both of these
outstanding historically based women’s groups in our
region.
Come and learn about their connection to the children
of Nashua, South Nashua Cemetery,
local reenactments and
history nation wide.

Auction Day
Saturday, May 17, 2008– 1:30p.m.
An auction of Nashua Foundry triangular manhole
covers will be held to benefit the Nashua Historical Society.
According to our research this cover shape is unique to Nashua,
NH and New Zealand! At 200lbs and more and in a variety of
conditions these covers would make a wonderful addition to
a garden path!

While covered Bridges today are often viewed as
quaint relics of a simpler past, they were in fact the technological
marvels of the day in many New Hampshire communities. This
evening we will rediscover
covered bridges as a vital link
in NH’s transportation network for more than 100 years.
